Christmas Party:

WIGUT (Jamaica) Christmas Party – The social event of the Year!!!

Normally held on the 2nd Saturday of December each year, commencing at 8:00 p.m. to 2:00 a.m., with music provided by a popular disco, plus live entertainment, along with an Emcee. Lots of prizes and surprises, with a main Gate Prize of a trip for 2 to an overseas destination.

Retirees’ Brunch:

WIGUT (Jamaica) hosts a brunch periodically, for its members who retire from the University. This event is normally held at a hotel in Kingston on a day during the weekend, commencing at 11:00 a.m. for approximately 2 to 2 ½ hours. In addition to the brunch, live entertainment and presentations from organisations on issues deemed to be of interest to these members, such as health and wellness, financial planning and investing, as well as lots of giveaways make up the package for the day. Gifts bearing the WIGUT emblem are also given to the members at the end of the event.

Family Fun Day:

WIGUT (Jamaica) hosts a Family Fun Day for its members and their families each year on a Saturday, from 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. at the poolside and on the lawns of the Senior Common Room. The programme normally features lots of fun and games, comprising track and field and board-game activities for adults and children, including swimming in the pool, a bounce-about, talent contest, clown activities, lots of food and music and an Awards Ceremony at the end of the day for the winners of the various activities held throughout the day. 

Annual General Meeting: 

WIGUT (Jamaica) holds its Annual General Meeting each year around the ending of April. Over the years the format has evolved, and for the past 2 years it has taken the format of a luncheon meeting which commences at 11:30 a.m. for 2 ½ to 3 hours. At this meeting the Minutes of the previous year’s meeting is tabled and reports from other chief officers such as the President, General Secretary and Treasurer are tabled. Members are also given the opportunity to field questions and/or seek clarification on the operations of the Union. The meeting normally ends with the election of Executive Officers for the up-coming year
